I have a passion for clay. The feel of it running through my fingers when I throw on the potter's wheel, the soft, velvety appearance of a pot that has yet to be fired, the metamorphosis that it goes through when it's glazed and fired - these are just a few of the things that never cease to fascinate me.
Most of my work is crafted from porcelain and is utilitarian in nature. I love creating pieces that are used for such vital acts as enjoying food and drink. Making these everyday moments a little more special, bestowing some beauty and sense of serendipity on our often too hectic lives, is something I hope to accomplish with my work.
After years of creating pieces that are highly decorative (see here _) I'm currently pulled in two directions - more abstract work that features streamlined forms and raw surfaces, as well as work that draws from many of the same inspirations as my older pieces with a different outlet. These forms are decorated with imagery of old scientific drawings and illustrations. Come see for yourself!
